Arbuste à croissance lente, aux feuilles de chêne profondément découpées et à l'écorce décorative. De robustes panicules dressées de fleurs d'un blanc éclatant apparaissent au début de l'été. Son feuillage se pare ensuite de magnifiques teintes automnales chaudes. Il prospère dans un sol fertile, frais mais non gorgé d'eau, à mi-ombre, et convient également aux petits jardins.
