A slow-growing shrub with striking, deeply incised oak leaves and decorative bark. Sturdy, upright panicles of bright white flowers appear in early summer. The foliage changes color spectacularly to warm autumnal hues. It thrives in fertile, moist but not waterlogged soil and light shade, also suitable for smaller gardens.
